ALLITERATION
Excessive usage of words beginning with the same sound.
ANGLE
The argument being made, especially over the span of an entire stanza or even verse. This usually contains a perspective and opinion with evidence used to support it. See PERSONAL.
BAR
Refers to the actual words used in a battle. A single bar of rapping can be compared to a single bar in sheet music.
On Top Rank MC, one bar is equivalent to two lines of text.
CADENCE
The rhythm and emphasis used when delivering a line.

This refers to a rapper's delivery, which is dependent upon both FLOW and CADENCE.

A line that discusses something specific to an opponent, especially in reference to their beliefs, behavior, or past experiences. (Example: "Remember when we lost one round and you were on the verge of tears?")
PUNCHLINE
A line constructed to make a strong point as directly as possible, especially at the end of a rhyme scheme. (Example: "You look like Eyedea got shrunk in the dryer!")
REACH
An instance where some form of criteria (such as a pun) is attempted but does not sound natural.
REBUTTAL
A 'comeback' delivered in direct response to a previously stated diss. (Example: "Based on your time zone, you're a day late," rebuttaled with, "I'm a day late, and that's the reason for your fucking mother's period.")
On Top Rank MC, rebuttals are only allowed in reference to previous rounds, and are thus not allowed in one round battles.
SCHEME
A stanza that incorporates multiple words that fit a common category but each hold an independent context. (Example: "You're a one trick pony and I just beat a dead horse.")
